Last week, eight women from around the state took part in South Carolina Farm Bureau's inaugural Women's Communications Bootcamp. This intense three-day program offered female members the opportunity to enhance the skills they need to effectively communicate about agriculture and its importance to consumers, the media and elected officials.
Over the course of the program, the women received training on networking, business etiquette, advocacy communications, television and radio interviews and social media. They also learned more about the law-making process, and met with Senator Katrina Shealy (R-Lexington) for tips on effectively delivering testimony during a hearing or committee meeting.
The 2023 participants were:
Kinsley Miller (Edgefield)
Loren Lindler (Lexington)
Andrea McCutchen (Lee)
Brittany Jeffcoat (Aiken)
Lauren Clemency (Orangeburg)
Angel Brabham (Allendale)
Margaret Harrison (Greenville)
Sally Harrison (Saluda)
Sponsored by the South Carolina Farm Bureau Women's Leadership Committee, the program is open to female Farm Bureau members who are at least 21 years old. Plans are already underway for the 2024 Women's Communications Bootcamp. Applications will be available in December 2023. For more information, contact Elizabeth Wood.
