South Carolina Farm Bureau hosted Congressman Joe Wilson during a stop on his annual district Bus Tour on August 18. SCFB President Harry Ott along with other Farm Bureau Federation and Insurance representatives met with the Congressman at the State Farm Bureau Office in Cayce.
During the meeting, President Ott gave an overview of Farm Bureau and highlighted benefits offered to its members. He also shared some of the key national issues that directly impact agriculture. Those included stepped up basis on inheritance taxes, infrastructure challenges and access to rural broadband.
“We depend on people like Congressman Wilson to listen to the needs of South Carolina farmers,” said SCFB President Harry Ott. “In the political arena, no one agrees 100 percent of the time, but having the opportunity to talk is critical and we are appreciative of the Congressman’s support.”
Representative Wilson’s annual Bus Tour includes twenty stops and covers Aiken, Barnwell, Lexington and portions of Orangeburg and Richland counties. Wilson has done this tour every year since taking office in 2001.
