Classroom Garden Mini-Grant Winners

Classroom Garden Mini-Grant Recipients Named

The South Carolina Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher (SCFB YF&R) Committee announces the recipients of its first Classroom Garden Mini-Grant Program, a program designed to show that agriculture is an integral part of our everyday environment.

A school from each of the four Farm Bureau districts was selected to receive the $500 Mini-Grant. After careful review of each of the more than 30 applicants, the selection committee chose the following schools as the 2010 recipients:

Central District:     North Elementary School, Lancaster County
Coastal District:    Colleton Middle School, Colleton County
Pee Dee District:   Thomas Hart Academy, Darlington County
Piedmont District:  Pendleton High School, Anderson County

Each recipient is required to partner with a local Farm Bureau Volunteer Leader who will oversee their project.

The mini-grants were made possible through a portion of the funds raised at the Silent Auction held in conjunction with the SCFB Annual Meeting in Myrtle Beach.
