It’s Official: No Farm Bill Action Until After Election

In a press briefing with reporters Thursday, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) confirmed what most people who closely follow farm policy already knew: “We will deal with the farm bill after the election.” By way of explanation, Boehner said conservative members don’t like the Ag Committee bill’s $900 billion price tag while those with more liberal leanings do not support a proposed $16 billion cut in food assistance programs.
